CONFIDENTIAL.

No. 307.

Answa (6)

GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONG KONG,

21st December, 1948.

Encl. 1

Sir,

54396/48

I have the honour to report, under Section 18 of the Deportation of Aliens Ordinance, Ordinance No. 39 of 1935, that with the advice of Executive Council I have made summary deportation orders against five persons under Section 3 (1) (c) of the Ordinance.

2.

The five persons against whom the orders have been made are:

WONG Yam Shuk alias WONG Yam Lam alias WANG Yin Shu alias

BAHREN

TSE Kin

CHUNG Yui

SIU Fong

Madame SZE Lui.

I enclose copy of a report from the Commissioner of Police setting out the information on which the deportation proceedings were heard, Encl. 2

and photostatic copies of the documents (in translation) referred to (5 separate in that report.

papers)

3.

This is the first occasion since the war that it has been found necessary to deport aliens on political grounds. This course was only adopted after the deepest consideration and because I was convinced that the persons against whom the orders were made were abusing the asylum of this Colony by activities directed against the established Government of China to the detriment of the relations existing between Hong Kong and China.

40

Of the five persons against whom orders have been made, two, namely CHUNG Yui and Madame SZE Lui were deported to Macao on the 1st December, 1943, WONG Yam Shuk is in Shanghai, and the remaining two have disappeared.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient, humble servant,

Mhautau

GOLRINOR.

Dup Handtoo to FO.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

A. CREECH JONES, M.P.
